Years later, I have been active in providing feedback and new product evaluations for Wyse and other VDI related solutions.

Once the acquisition was completed, I moved back into a systems engineer role to help educate and promote the new Dell / Wyse solutions.

Having kickstarted the VDI strategy I moved to the Client Product Group where I co-launched Dells VDI-in-a-box and participated in the vetting of the thin client industry which led to Dell purchasing Wyse.
WHATS USB REDIRECTOR CLIENT FULL
Before the purchase of Wyse, I and a hand full of system engineers guided dell to desktop virtualization leading to Dell developing its first Thin Client. My history with Wyse starts years before the Dell acquisition. Greetings! My name is Jim Lathan, I have been with Dell about 20 years serving in many roles mostly Systems Engineer. Of cource we have the USB redirection policy enabled. USB: Flash Drive SKUSB20 vid:0x1516 pid:0x8628 connected Looking at the Event Log i can see the USB device is detected, but not redirected to the virtual OS: However when the user attaches the USB device when already logged in to the desktop, the device is not redirected. Only when the USB device is attached to the Thin client before booting (cold plug), the device is available after logging in to the desktop pool.
WHATS USB REDIRECTOR CLIENT WINDOWS
When a user working on a 9.1 client inserts a USB device the device is not redirected to the Windows OS. What we are seeing is that USB redirection on 9.1 is not functioning properly, while on 8.6 all is working fine. Clients connect to a Vmware horizon environment. Only the 8.6 clients are production clients, the 9.1 are in test phase. At this moment we are running WMS 3.3 for managing our ThinOS 8.6 and 9.1 () Wyse 3040 clients.
